Country Wall Borders
A cozy country décor isn’t complete without country wall
borders that make up a beautifully coordinated decorating project. There are such a wide variety of country
themes and designs that complement many homes with a personally enjoyed print.
Country style themes normally depict fruits and vegetables,
barn stars, berries and branches, or milk jugs and roosters. These are just a few of the options to adorn
your home. Generally the color scheme involves deep reds, dark greens and blues or neutral shades and
browns. These borders will complement a variety of different options for paint colors for the walls, as there
are always at least two or three main colors to tie in with. The color of the wall paint doesn’t have to be
identical to one of the border colors but it should be nicely coordinating. Bringing the border to a paint
store to find a few good matches will work the best. Place the paint sample behind the border so there is at
least an inch showing beside the border to be able to see how well they go together.
Any room can be decorated in the country theme but kitchens
seem to be most popular in this style. Accessories, wall hangings, curtains and wall borders are all great
elements to get the true country feel to your decorating. For the accessories, you can use old bottles, cans,
barn stars and dried flowers as well as locating a number of commercial options for your country accessories.
Wall hangings can range from pictures, paintings and decorative plates to old saws, metal forms and hanging
antiques. An appropriately placed wall fixture will be a great element to tie in the other decorating efforts
to bring unique and interesting things to look at eye level.
Curtains are not only good to block or diffuse sunlight and for
privacy concerns, but are an excellent way to add more color and coordination to your decorating efforts.
Kitchen café curtains are a style that only covers the bottom half of the window and can have valances at the top
and/or panels at the side, if desired. This is a great look for a country themed kitchen to have a full panel
on just half the window, providing some privacy and sun blocking and to show off one of those great looking country
prints on the inside.
The many designs of wall borders in the country style are great
for any kind of border placement. Borders can be placed in any position on the wall; it’s about whatever
works for you. However, the most common placement of borders is at the top of the wall, maybe 2 or 3 inches
from the ceiling, or at a more visible location about 4 or 5 feet from the floor. There are different widths
of borders as well, so you can achieve different decorative appeal depending on the thickness of the
border.
The country décor is a homey and cozy decorating style to use
and country wall borders are just one small part of the decorative elements you can get to bring this comforting
and casual look to your home.
